Remember, if you have a question that's not in this guide, check the wiki! This mod adds many new voices, including British English, Australian English, and many others and its very nice hearing such a diverse cast of soldiers!

When playing XCOM: Long War, I'd suggest enable the "Soldier VO" option in the options menu. The first half of this guide is here to help you ease into the mod, or if your familiar with the mod and want a more detailed strategy on how to win the Long War, that's what the latter half of this guide is for. Long War is basically a fan made expansion pack for XCOM EU/EW, and the XCOM head dev himself said that EU/EW was just a tutorial for how to play and win the Long War! Its recommended you play on NORMAL until you get used to all the changes Long War does to the game. Interceptors are unavailable for combat during the 24 hour period it takes to complete each retrofit.Vanilla XCOM too easy for you! Not enough depth to it? Welcome to the Long War, a mod for XCOM:Enemy Unknown/Enemy Within that feels more like an expansion pack instead of a mod.ĭifficulty wise, the Long War is on par with Classic EU/EW difficulty on its NORMAL setting. Firestorms can be fitted with any of them, while Ravens cannot be equipped with a Fusion Lance. An additional five types of armaments become available as new weapons are researched and produced. XCOM's interceptors are equipped with Avalanche Missiles by default. Undamaged interceptors require 24 hours for refueling and maintenance following combat.Īrmaments Main article: Aircraft armaments (XCOM: Enemy Unknown) When damaged during aerial combat with a UFO, interceptors require 168 hours (7 days) to be repaired, and are unavailable for use during this time. They can be transferred between continents, which makes them unavailable for a period of 72 hours (3 days) while in transit. Aircraft maintenance costs can be reduced by 50% with the Air and Space bonus.Įach continent can station up to four interceptors.

Each interceptor is subject to a monthly maintenance cost which is deducted from XCOM's budget ( §20 for Ravens and §10 for Firestorms). Ravens can be purchased directly from the Hangar while Firestorms must be produced in Engineering.

XCOM's complement of interceptors are managed from the Hangar. The Hangar's interceptor management interface UFOs range from 1500 to 3500 travel speed, 800 to 2900 HP, 0 to 64 armor, 17 to 60 engagement speed, and 7 to 25 armor penetration. * Easy & Normal / Classic & Impossible game difficulty Source: XGItemTree, XComStrategyGame.upk file, XCOM: Enemy Within
